Freedom Flag 5k-Horn Pond Woburn, MA
Freedom Flag Memorial 5k, is an event, held at Horn Pond in Woburn, Massachusetts in October. It is an event where Military members, First Responders and Civilians come together to pay tribute to those who serve and honor the memory of Stoneham Firefighter, Army Veteran Cpl. David Atherton and Woburn Resident Kevin McDonald.
The Reason Why We Run: To Honor and Remember Fallen Heroes from Woburn & Stoneham and all those who have served and sacrificed for our Country and the Communities in which they served. In Memory of Cpl. David Atherton and Woburn Resident Kevin McDonald.
Cpl. David Atherton, 23, was Born in Winchester on September 25, 1992, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Kathleen A. (Noonan) Atherton.David was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 2011 and Northshore Community College. David enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2011. David was a part of the 972nd Military Police Company. David was also a Stoneham Firefighter. He strived to serve his country and community. David died on June 28, 2016, in his hometown of Stoneham Massachusetts after a tragic accident.
Kevin McDonald, 20, born in Winchester, Massachusetts passed away on October 24, 2017 after a tragic motorcycle accident. Kevin was the son of Roland J. and Cheryl A. (Wilson) McDonald of Woburn. Kevin was a loving, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
Both David and Kevin touched so many lives, they were active in living a healthier lifestyle and they embraced life, liberty and their freedom, they are both forever missed.
Along the route is the Hometown Hero Half Mile which pays tribute to those who serve and to Stoneham Firefighter Cpl. David Atherton & Woburn Resident Kevin McDonald.
We will also pay tribute to those who lost their lives due to serve to their country and community within Woburn and Stoneham.
Heroes Live Forever Memorial 5 miler, Templeton, MA
Join fellow Templeton Firefighters, EMS professionals and surrounding departments in the inaugural Heroes Live Forever Memorial 5 miler- In Memory of Templeton EMT Tracy Ferrazza. This 5k event is a time to honor Templeton EMT Tracy who served the Templeton community and ensured the safety and well being of all citizens. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to participate, Firefighters, Police, EMS professionals and competitive runners alike will love our fast and flat course. Children, and strollers are also welcome

In Memory of Tracy Ann (Massalski) Ferrazza, 52, who tragically passed away on Sunday evening, January 17, 2021 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
She was born in Fitchburg on July 26, 1968, daughter of Sandra (Tyler) Massalski of Townsend and the late John Joseph Massalski. Tracy was a 1986 graduate of No. Middlesex High School and later graduated from Mt. Wachusett Community College as well as Henry’s Hairdressing School. She had lived in Templeton for many years.
Tracy worked as personal care assistant and life coach with Mitchell Borque of Templeton as well as multiple children for ABA Services in Fitchburg. She served as an EMT for the Town of Templeton for 11 years. She ran the 113th Boston Marathon. Additionally, Tracy often volunteered to distribute food baskets for veterans in need on a regular basis.
In addition to her mother, she leaves two sons, Tyler M. Ferrazza and Nathan A. Ferrazza, both of Templeton; two brothers, Mark Massalski and wife Miriam of Fallbrook, CA and Keith Massalski and wife Sarah of Townsend; four nephews, Dylan, Travis, Alex and Andrew; two uncles, Arthur “Butch” Tyler and his wife Gail and Joseph Massalski and his wife Geri; two aunts, Muriel Tyler and Marcia Massalski and many cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Michael and grandparents, Pearl and Arthur Tyler and Joseph and Hedy Massalski.
Tracy will be remembered as a kind, selfless, and loving mother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend. She will continue to live as an inspiration to everyone that she met even if it was only for a brief moment.
